In order to better promote the professional development and academic communication of kidney transplantation in China, the Kidney Transplantation Group of Chinese Urological Association was officially established in 2006. Adhering to the concept of compatibility and integration, the group has gathered many experts in the field of kidney transplantation in China, which includes not only nationally renowned kidney transplantation experts but also scholars who have made outstanding contributions in the field of urology and kidney transplantation, thus forming an excellent tradition of strong associations and cross-border cooperation. At the beginning of its establishment, the group confirmed a principle of opening and concentrating wisdom, endeavoring to break the barriers between domestic disciplines, and to carry out multi-disciplinary cooperation and communication. The group has been also organizing multi-center clinical research and compiling the professional guidelines, expert consensus and so forth, which effectively promoted the communication between the member institutions of academic group in all regions of the country and enhanced cooperations between different regional hospitals, so that the group have greatly developed and continuously expanded the influence of kidney transplantation as a subspecialty of urology. In terms of international communication, the group actively communicates with experts from various countries and regions in the world, and cooperates with multiple international academic organizations to strive to improve the international reputation of kidney transplantation surgery of China and to show the demeanor of Chinese experts on the stage of transplant worldwide. The current group leader is Professor Ye Tian from Beijing Friendship Hospital, Capital Medical University. The deputy group leaders include  Professor Min Gu from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Professor Jianquan Hou from the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, Professor Changxi Wang from the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Professor Tao Lin from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Professor Jun Dong from Chinese PLA General Hospital and Professor Ming Cai from the Second Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine. The secretary-general of the group is concurrently served by Professor Jun Lin from Beijing Friendship Hospital, Capital Medical University. The group members consist of 51 renowned kidney transplant surgery experts from major transplant centers across the country. We believe that with the care from the leaders of Chinese Urological Association and under the leadership of Professor Ye Tian, the Kidney Transplantation Group will continue to strive to promote the development of kidney transplantation in China with a brand-new look and high morale, adhering to the academic philosophy of Chinese Urological Association, and make greater achievements.
